European Union Programs Participation Incentives

ANKARA UNIVERSITY PRINCIPLES REGARDING INCENTIVES FOR EUROPEAN UNION SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH FRAMEWORK PROGRAMS PROJECTS

Aim

Article 1: These principles regulate the application principles and methods regarding the incentives for the participation of academicians of Ankara University in European Union scientific and technological research programs (European Union Framework Programs) with projects.
Scope

Article 2: These principles cover the incentives for academicians of Ankara University who have project proposals that have been submitted to European Union Framework Programs and are under evaluation, having passed the eligibility test.
Application

Article 3: Regarding those academicians of Ankara University who have project proposals that have been submitted to European Union Framework Programs, after the application to Ankara University Rectorate with the enclosed application form, an evaluation will be made by Ankara University Executive Board whether or not to provide incentives in compliance with the rules stated in these principles. Approved by the project coordinator of the European Union, the following must be enclosed to the application form;

a) the document showing that the project proposal has passed the eligibility test and is under evaluation,

b) the document showing the applicants of the project proposal under evaluation

Article 4: The decision of whether or not to provide those academicians making a project proposal to European Union Framework Programs who have received incentives or prizes from sources outside Ankara University, such as The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) or similar national and international institutions, will be taken by Ankara University Executive Board.

Article 5: Incentives for Participation in European Union Framework Programs with projects will be arranged according to project application tool below:
Project Application Tool

a) Positions in Integrated Projects (IP) or Networks of Excellence (NoE): Coordinator Upper limit for Incentives: 6000 euro, Position in Project: Core Group Member Upper limit for Incentives: 4000 euro, Position in Project: Participants Upper limit for Incentives: 2000 euro b) Specific Targeted Research Projects (STREP) or Small and Medium Enterprises Research Provider (SME-RP) Position in Project: Coordinator, Upper limit for Incentives: 4000 euro, Position in Project: Core Group Member, Upper limit for Incentives: 3000 euro, Position in Project: Participants, Upper limit for Incentives: 1500 euro to be taken as maximum limits, the decision for the amounts of incentives will be made by Ankara University Executive Board. The amounts set will be for expenditures for travel abroad for project work, tickets for mediums of transportation, registration/participation fees. Multiple travels abroad in one year could be financially supported as long as the upper limit is not exceeded. Computers, office products and supplies necessary for project work could also be supported as long as the upper limit is not exceeded.

Article 6: In the decision for the determination of the incentives for participation in European Union Framework Programs with projects, issues such as the following will be considered; Whether the academician has received support from the “TÜBİTAK Program for Travel and Meetings intended for Project Development in European Union Framework Programs” or similar programs, the rate of involvement of the academician in project development, the importance and scientific content of the project, Ankara University’s priorities in research as well as the benefit that the subject of the project will provide for the Country in general.

Article 7: In case of participation of more than one academician in a project, each will be provided the incentives as regulated by Article 5. In such a case, the amount that will be provided for each academician will be decided by Ankara University Executive Board.

Article 8: The maximum limits of incentives could be reviewed and revised by Ankara University Executive Board every year.
Evaluation

Article 9: The applications for incentives for participation in European Union Framework Programs with projects will be pre-assessed by the Commission made up of Ankara University Scientific Research Projects Commission Members and Ankara University Framework Program Coordinator, and this Commission’s proposal will be presented to Ankara University Executive Board.
Validity and Implementation

Article 10: These principles will come into force at their date of approval by Ankara University Executive Board.

Article 11: These principles will be implemented by the Rector of Ankara University.
