GRADUATE SCHOOL OF NUCLEAR SCIENCES
Degree: Master of Science
Duration: 2 years
Program Description: The programme aims to protect from the detrimental effects of radiation on human health and environment and at the same time to use the radiation as a useful tool for medical and environmental practices with the necessary justification conditions. Health physics as an interdisciplinary field, which includes physics, biology, chemistry, engineering and statistics components, examines and enhances natural and human made radiation sources, the interaction mechanisms of radiation with human and environment, techniques used for radiation detection and measurement and principles of radiation protection. Health physics master degree program includes theoretical and experimental lectures about the practices of radiation such as medical imaging and radiotherapy, dosimetry, retrospective dosimetry and environmental radiation measurements. In the master degree program, there are common lectures for all students such as radiation physics, radiation detection and measurement and the basic principles of radiation protection; as well as lectures which students can choose with regard to their specialization in the field of interest such as medical imaging, radionuclide metrology and retrospective dosimetry. Graduate will be professionals, who has a grasp of the effects of radiation on human health and environment, knows and implies the principles of radiation safety and radiation protection and trains people about these topics, uses radiation in field of medicine and environmental practices safely.
