Prof. Dr. Hasan Serdar Öztürk was born in Konya, in 1964. He completed his secondary education in Konya Anatolian High School in 1981. In the same year, he registered Ankara University, Faculty of Medicine and graduated in 1987. After finishing his compulsory service as a health center physician in Eruh district of Siirt and in Konya, he started his PhD in Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Biochemistry and completed it in 1993.

Öztürk completed his short-term military service in June – July 1993. In 1995, he was appointed as a specialist in the Department of Biochemistry of Ankara University Faculty of Medicine. He received the title of Associate Professor in the field of “Biochemistry (Medicine)” in October 1996. In 1998, he worked at Lübeck Medical University in Germany with the scholarship he received from the German Academic Exchange Program (DAAD). In December 2001, he was appointed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs / New York Consulate General as Health Attaché. Completing his duty at the New York Consulate General in April 2006, he returned to his teaching position at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine / Department of Medical Biochemistry. He was appointed as a Professor in the Department of Medical Biochemistry in July 2006.

He served as a member of the Ankara Medical Chamber Executive Board between 2008-2010. He took part in the several committees of Turkey Health Professionals Education and Solidarity Foundation (TÜSAV) in various periods. He has been working as the Head of the Medical Biochemistry Department at the Faculty of Medicine since 2012.

He has many articles, most of which were published in international journals within the scope of SCI or SCI-Expanded, and many papers presented at national and international congresses. He has over 1600 citations to his works and his h-index is 22 (Web of Science / October 2020).

He is married with two children.
